Discerning The Voices

God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer's; he makes me tread on my high places.  Hab 3:19

He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places.

  Psa 18:33

Yieldedness and Sonship

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

There is a spectrum on which all humans exist: on one end there is complete yieldedness and heartfelt sonship to the one true God. On the opposite end is "godness" or regarding oneself as god. Jesus as the second Adam and firstborn of many was the sole occupant of the good end and maybe Hitler or others have claim to the other end. But the great mass of humanity find themselves in between the two poles moving one way or the other. The work of the Holy Spirit is to move us along towards Jesus' end and away  from the end Satan rules. All lawlessness, which we might define as resisting the structure that the rules and guidelines of the Bible create, and idol worship, and atheism and agnosticism allow the individual to rule his own existence as he or she desires.

REMEMBER THE PROMISE

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

Religion takes on many subtle forms, some of which are antithetical to true relations with Our Creator. Always remember, the Pharisees, in the name of religion, wanted to kill Jesus, who was sent by God, who was the perfect representation of God. Two directions present day Christian religion seems to drift towards are rules and programs. True faith includes rules and laws that define God and govern our living with each other, and our living in this world. The book of Acts describes the feeding programs that the early church initiated indicating programs are an essential part of the practicing of our faith. But neither rules nor programs and church activities come close to representing the living essence of our relationship with God. Perhaps our marginalizing of the Old Testament has allowed us to wander from an appreciation of the genetic stock that began personal relationships with God. In particular, Abraham is the father of the faithful.

KEEPING POWER

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

God is so faithful.  When I sit and look back over my life and even look at just yesterday, I marvel at how God continues to keep me.  The meaning of keep : preserve, maintain, to watch over and defend> keep us from harm> to take care of> tend> support: to maintain in a good, fitting, or orderly condition.  In this hour,  it is vital that we notice and thank God for keeping us each and everyday.  If God didn't keep us, it would blow our minds what our lives would look like.

In the word God says "I will never leave you nor forsake you."  When Noah was in the ark and it looked as if he was doomed, God kept him. When Lot was in the midst of Sodom and Gomorrah filled with sin and disaster, God kept him. When Joseph was in a pit, God kept him.  Paul on a ship that was about to go under, God kept him.  When Peter denied Jesus and he felt it was over, God kept him. Now I ask,  what are you going through?  Whether you feel it or see it God is keeping you.  You ask, oh really? John 17:15 Jesus prayed for us.  He said "I'm not asking that you take them out of the world, but to "KEEP" them safe from the evil one.  Jesus said that we would have trials and troubles but be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.  I ask you to look back from yesterday and throughout your life and just think about how God has kept and is keeping you.  Take notice and give credit where credit is due which is to the one true God who is the same yesterday, today and forever.

DO YOU WANT THE GLORY?

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

Among those who call themselves Christians, there are disciples and there are the saved and there are the pretenders and the deluded. Jesus made this clear in many of his teachings in His time on earth. Thankfully, anybody in the non disciple ranks can move up by becoming obedient- or as Jesus presented the opportunity, "follow Me ; drop all that encumbers you and follow Me trusting that I will protect you, provide for you and guide you AND take care of all that you abandoned and left undone"
