God's Design

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

A year ago my husband and I decided we wanted to redesign the landscaping in our front flowerbed,  which is a rectangle about 30 ft wide and 8 ft deep. Our new son in law, who has a degree in horticulture and experience in the planting, irrigation and maintenance of a large estate works with a lady who designs landscaping for the rich and famous. He drew upon their friendship and got her to come to our house and rethink our little lawn and flowerbeds. She sent computer rendered sketches of the layout of all the trees , bushes and flowers that were to be planted. It was pretty exciting to have an overall design for our whole property rather than the "little here, little there " approach we had always employed in our landscaping efforts. The process became a little less exciting when our son in law explained that builders established a building site by laying down a pad of mostly clay, upon which the foundation is poured as well as driveways and sidewalks.

God our rock and our fortress

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

Do you believe this? I mean down deep in your very being?  We may say we believe this, but when trials come, it's test time.  You will find out how much you believe that God is your rock, fortress and stronghold.  God wants us to grow up in Him so it is a progressive revelation and relationship.  When I married my husband I loved him (obviously) but through the years I have come to love him so much more than I did years ago.   No matter where you are in your walk with the Lord he is with you if you have accepted him as your savior.  You can call out for help and he hears you instantly, faster than a text message can transmit.  He is our Shield, Fortress, Hiding Place, Keeper, Refuge, Rock, Shade, Shelter, Protection and Stronghold. Wow!

Falling Idols

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

1Samuel 5 tells of the ark of God  being held by the Philistines in Ashdod. The ark was placed in the house of Dagon right beside the idol. In the morning , they found Dagon lying on its face while the ark remained in place. They would restore Dagon to its upright position only to find it back on its face the next day. This little myth like story actually puts forth a hard and fast law in the Kingdom of God; in His presence, idols will fall.

Psalm 118:1-3

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

I love you, Lord;
    you are my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;
    my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety.
I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
    and he saved me from my enemies.

Going Forward

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

As we mature in our relationship with the Lord, we have mountaintop seasons and valley seasons. It says in the word we go from glory to glory so we know that we are to progress in our walk. There are also times that we sit idle and coast along, but then all of a sudden we are faced with a trial. My first reaction is to get in a "let's fix it" mode but sometimes it's not an easy/quick fix. I am the type person who likes things to be peaceful, but recently I had my peace disturbed.
