HANG ON

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are for good and not for disaster. to give you a future and a hope.

Whatever you are facing today, and sometimes I know it seems as if all is lost, that this is the "big one"- I want to encourage you that nothing is too big for Almighty God.
The storms of life come but we must know that God has his eyes on us and He is watching over you.

Our True Idenity

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

We must die to ourselves and part of that is dying to a need for acceptance and approval. Of the many idols that we as well meaning but human followers of Jesus put before God, the need for acceptance and approval is a tough one to get beyond.  A large part of the book of Job is Job dying to nonsensical ideas about God as espoused by his friends and finding himself very isolated as a result of his suffering not a result of unrighteousness . His God ordained journey and revelation brought on a separation from these men who were very good friends of Job.
So the negative is we reject popular ideas and concepts and find ourselves ostracized and alone , but the positive is that we know the truth and the truth sets us free.

God's Design

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

A year ago my husband and I decided we wanted to redesign the landscaping in our front flowerbed,  which is a rectangle about 30 ft wide and 8 ft deep. Our new son in law, who has a degree in horticulture and experience in the planting, irrigation and maintenance of a large estate works with a lady who designs landscaping for the rich and famous. He drew upon their friendship and got her to come to our house and rethink our little lawn and flowerbeds. She sent computer rendered sketches of the layout of all the trees , bushes and flowers that were to be planted. It was pretty exciting to have an overall design for our whole property rather than the "little here, little there " approach we had always employed in our landscaping efforts. The process became a little less exciting when our son in law explained that builders established a building site by laying down a pad of mostly clay, upon which the foundation is poured as well as driveways and sidewalks.

God our rock and our fortress

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

Do you believe this? I mean down deep in your very being?  We may say we believe this, but when trials come, it's test time.  You will find out how much you believe that God is your rock, fortress and stronghold.  God wants us to grow up in Him so it is a progressive revelation and relationship.  When I married my husband I loved him (obviously) but through the years I have come to love him so much more than I did years ago.   No matter where you are in your walk with the Lord he is with you if you have accepted him as your savior.  You can call out for help and he hears you instantly, faster than a text message can transmit.  He is our Shield, Fortress, Hiding Place, Keeper, Refuge, Rock, Shade, Shelter, Protection and Stronghold. Wow!

Falling Idols

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

1Samuel 5 tells of the ark of God  being held by the Philistines in Ashdod. The ark was placed in the house of Dagon right beside the idol. In the morning , they found Dagon lying on its face while the ark remained in place. They would restore Dagon to its upright position only to find it back on its face the next day. This little myth like story actually puts forth a hard and fast law in the Kingdom of God; in His presence, idols will fall.
