Trust the Potter

How many times have we prayed for God to allow us to have more faith?

I know I have prayed that many times, and honestly, I think it's going to just "poof" happen and then rejoice in what God has done.  For us to grow in faith means that we will be stretched ( to extend in length, to pull, strain)so that faith can go to a higher level.  As we read the definition of stretch we see that it's not a joy ride.  It is painful and tiring and it takes you to a place you've never been before.  I have recently gone through the stretching of my faith.

We Want A King

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

Moses, as a part of his deliverance from infanticide, was raised in the household of Pharoh. He witnessed the exercise of divine right power and authority and probably as a result of his intelligence and inherent leadership qualities, Pharoh let him have a measure of dominion, despite his Hebrew origins. Moses wielded the power of an earthly king. {jcomments on

What Are The Works We're To Do?

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

The people walking with Jesus were a little startled when he turned and commanded them to stop toiling for the bread that perishes (John 6:27); and it's not as if this was the first time He had minimized the importance of the pursuit of the basics of life. On other occasions He had told them that birds didn't toil or save yet the Father took care of them; the Gentiles were obsessed with these things ( intimating that this was a pursuit well beneath them) but they were not to be. He blew the disciples minds declaring that the rich folks would have great difficulty entering into the kingdom of heaven. In fact, Jesus plainly declared that it was impossible to serve God and mammon( a contemporary pagan god ) both.

Yieldedness and Sonship

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

There is a spectrum on which all humans exist: on one end there is complete yieldedness and heartfelt sonship to the one true God. On the opposite end is "godness" or regarding oneself as god. Jesus as the second Adam and firstborn of many was the sole occupant of the good end and maybe Hitler or others have claim to the other end. But the great mass of humanity find themselves in between the two poles moving one way or the other. The work of the Holy Spirit is to move us along towards Jesus' end and away  from the end Satan rules. All lawlessness, which we might define as resisting the structure that the rules and guidelines of the Bible create, and idol worship, and atheism and agnosticism allow the individual to rule his own existence as he or she desires.

YOU ARE VALUABLE

Written by Phyllis. Posted in Articles

Luke 12:6-7

Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. 7"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

God knows you better than you know yourself.  Do you know the number of hairs on your head?  I am continually humbled by God's love and watchful care over each one of us.  You are not forgotten and the word says do not fear because we are very valuable to God.  He has a plan and a purpose for each one of us and it is His hope that we fulfill that purpose that only you can fulfill.
